Pre-booking & Aftercare information 

What is it?

Also known as Permanent Makeup(PMU), is when pigment is implanted into the skin to create a desired effect. At Love Spell we use a tattoo machine with pigments specially designed for PMU. This is not the same as the “old school” cosmetic tattooing you have probably seen. These pigments and techniques have been refined. It is semi permanent, lasting anywhere from 1-3 years(depending on the procedure and lifestyle of client). Cosmetic tattoo’s require 2-3 sessions to develop initial results. Yearly touch up sessions are also necessary to keep the vibrancy of the tattoo. Getting a cosmetic tattoo does not mean “maintenance free” it is, however, “low maintenance”. You will still need to pluck your eyebrows, possibly put on lipstick, etc. You do not need to shave your eyebrows completely off. Pleaseeeeeee don’t shave your eyebrows off!

Is it painful?

Numbing cream will be applied multiple times during the procedure. Everyones pain tolerance is different, but most clients only experience mild discomfort and the procedures are usually tolerated very well. We usually do not use numbing agents for freckle services because it is so minimally invasive, but of course, upon request we can apply it!

Who is not a good candidate for Cosmetic Tattoos?

• Pregnant/nursing

• On antibiotics- must be off for atleast 2 weeks prior to booking

• If you are prone to Cold Sores on face- must wait before it’s completely inactive due to lowering of the immune system. For Lip blushing you will need to contact your doctor for a prescription for antivirals and start them a few days in advance.

• Prone to keloid scarring

• Sun burnt skin

• Diagnosed with HIV, Hepatitis or other Viral infectious diseases, immunocompromised persons- All of these illness’s lower the immune system.

• Botox or fillers must be spaced 4-6 weeks before or after your cosmetic tattoo(you should consult your Aesthetician(injector) as well)

• Skin disease or irritation at procedure area (eczema, psoriasis, etc)

• If you have been on prescription Accutane in the past year, you must wait ONE full year before you can receive cosmetic tattooing.

  Doctors clearance needed for

• Diabetes- if you take medication to regulate diabetes

• High blood pressure

• Cancer/chemotherapy treatments

• Epilepsy

• Bleeding disorder- client will not retain pigment as well

• Circulatory disorder- pigment will not retain as well

Suggestions/requirements before/After procedure

• If you fill in your brows with makeup, please come in with them done so your artist can see how you like to wear them. Do not pluck/wax before hand. We prefer untamed, non plucked brows! Please send a picture of your bare brows to our IG after booking!

• Lip Blushing: Please bring color inspiration, pictures, lipsticks, etc. Please send a picture of your bare lips to our IG after you make your appointment!

• Lip blushing: exfoliate your lips! If you do not have a lip exfoliant you can make a sugar scrub by mixing sugar with oil(olive oil, coconut oil, vegetable oil).

• No botox/fillers 4-6 weeks prior or after appointment (all procedures)

• No retinols/ Retin- A or other acne/anti aging creams/serums containing acids. If you take Vitamin A you need to be off it for 6 weeks before procedure. These things affect pigment retention. Even if you are not using it in the brow area, these products travel once soaked into the skin. (all procedures)

• No chemical peels, microdermabrasion, or any other treatments that will increase cell turnover/skin rejuvenation (all procedures)

• No heavy sweating for 7-10 days (all procedures)

• Lash-line Enhancement: Remove Lash extensions one week prior to appointment

• Lash-line Enhancements: Discontinue using Latisse or products like it(lengthening serums) 30 days before your procedure. Please make sure all mascara/eyeliner is removed. Avoid contact lenses for the procedure and at least the 3 days following.

• Do not tan or have sunburned skin the day of or following weeks after (all procedures)

• Do not take blood thinners 48 hours prior to appointment (all procedures)

• No waxing/tinting 3 days before (all procedures)

• No alcohol/caffeine 24 hours before (all procedures)

• No smoking before procedure (all procedures)

After Care

Brows:

• How to wash your brows:

  Wash hands, wet q tip in water, wipe brows, dip q tip in soap, swipe on brows 3x, rinse with water, gently blot dry with paper towel. Do not rub!

• Day of Service:
  - Lightly blot clear lymphatic fluid off of brows when they feel "wet" for the next few hours. First wash will be at the end of the day.

• Next 10-14 Days:

  -Wash brows every AM & PM with a gentle cleanser (Cetaphil, Cerave, Dove Sensitive, Castile soap). Do not scrub brows. After blotting brows dry, apply a RICE size amount of ointment by dabbing it on.

• Healing Do’s and Dont’s:

• NO water on your brows until they are done flaking(7-14 days) besides when washing.

• DO NOT wear makeup on or near your brows for at least 10 days.

• DO NOT pick, peel, or scratch your brows.

• NO saunas, excessive sweating, facials, direct sun exposure, or makeup on brows until fully healed.

• AVOID using skincare with acids or retinol near your brows (even after they heal!)

• DO NOT overdo the ointment! Less is more. RICE sized amounts!

• DO wear sunscreen once brows are healed. This will help prevent fading and discoloration.

• NO chemical peels, microdermabrasion, or any other treatments that will increase cell turnover/skin rejuvenation. The faster your cells turn over, the faster your brows fade!

• DO treat your healing tattoo like an OPEN WOUND, because it is! Don’t touch it when you don’t have too and wash your hands before you do.

• Your brows will looked faded in the healing process due to the new skin growth over top of your new brows! This is normal, the color will come back when they are fully healed. If you want to go darker, we can do that at your touch up!

  
  Freckles After care:

• DO wash 1-2x a day with a gentle cleanser like cetaphil, Dial, Castile soap, etc

• DO moisturize your face 1-2x a day(ointment isn’t necessary)

• DO NOT pick your scabs

• DO NOT wear makeup on freckles for atleast 7 days

• DO stay out of direct sun exposure, saunas, heavy steam or sweating

• AVOID chemical peels, microdermabrasion or any other treatments that will increase cell turnover/skin rejuvenation. The faster your cells turn over, the faster your freckles fade!

• DO wear a moisturizer when healed with a SPF in it daily to maintain the longevity of your freckles!

  LIP BLUSHING AFTER CARE:

• Day of Service:

  -Dab lips every 30mins with paper towel moistened with warm water. Pat lips dry. Apply aquaphor. DO NOT let lips get dry.

• Day 2:

  - Continue to clean lips with wet paper towel every 2-4 hours. Dab lips with clean, wet paper towel after eating. Continue to moisturize constantly. DO NOT let lips get dry

• Days 3-5:

  -Clean lips 2-3x a day. Continue to moisturize constantly. DO NOT let lips get dry

• Healing Do’s and Don’ts:

• DO moisturize lips constantly.

• DO wear SPF lip balm to protect your new pretty lips!

• DO NOT pick, pull, or bite at flaking skin.

• DO NOT wear make up, lotion, or skin products ON LIPS until the flaking is complete.

• DO NOT exercise for 5 days to prevent excess swelling & bruising. No saunas, pools, or excessive steam until flaking is complete.

• DO NOT get lips wet besides when cleaning or drinking/eating(obviously). Drinking through a straw can help keep your lips cleaner!

• DO NOT use creams on/around lips that contain acids or ingredient that lighten or exfoliate the skin for 6 weeks after procedure.

• AVOID spicy food, sunbathing, saunas, pools, and kissing until flaking is complete.
  
  

  Lash-Line enhancement Aftercare:

  
  

  Day of Service:
  You will likely experience swelling this day and a few days after. This is normal

  How to cleanse your lash-line:
  Use a q tip or cotton pad and gently blot the area with room temperature water. Wash 1-2x/day the first week. Do not use any soaps.

  Days 1-7:
  Use cold packs for 5-10mins applied to the eyelids to help alleviate swelling. You can do this multiple times per day if needed. Keep the area dry and clean the first week and avoid wearing make up.

• Healing Do’s and Don’ts

• DO use a fresh, clean pillow case

• DO keep lash line dry(besides cleansing)

• DO dry heal (Dry heal means no healing ointments)

• DO avoid steamy showers, saunas, hot tubs, heavy sweating for the first 7 days

• DO NOT pick, pull, or scratch at scabs, or otherwise touch the lash line. Hands are dirty!

• DO NOT wear makeup for the first 7 days

• DO NOT wear contact lenses for the first few days

• DO avoid sun exposure the first 14 days

• DO wear sun hat/ visor/ sunglasses to protect the treated area

Types of Procedures

Ombre brows/Powder brows:

Perfect for any and all skin types. Created using a tattoo machine, it replaces the look of your penciled or powder filled in brows. This look can be done very sharp or soft and subtle. If you have previous cosmetic tattoo work, you need to contact us via email or on IG first so we can approve the appointment. Not all previous work is correctable or may need removal prior to correction. Correction is on a case by case basis.

Freckles:

Created using a tattoo machine. Faux freckles last 6 months to one year.
Horoscope Freckles: Freckles in the formation of your constellation of choice! These can done alone or in conjunction with other freckles!
Freckles: From low coverage to high coverage, we can do it all. However, if you want high coverage I prefer to do them in multiple sessions so your parents aren’t confused on how you are a freckle face over night! The pricing would be made into a bundle for this so please mention that you want high coverage frecks at your appointment!

LIP BLUSHING:
Using a tattoo machine, I will “tint” or “blush” your lips. Results will fade 30-50% from Day one. This procedure requires atleast 2 sessions and will require yearly or bi yearly color boosts. This procedure is good for clients that have discolored lips or lack “border” or structure of the lips. We cannot make drastic changes to your shape, but after healing you will be left with a pretty blushed lip that will make your lips a more noticeable feature!
*Lip Neutralization- This is done on a case by case basis as this procedure is very technical. Please contact us prior to booking an appointment so we can approve the appointment*

LASH-LINE ENHANCEMENT:
Using a tattoo machine, the artist will create a shadow on your lash line which gives the appearance of fuller lashes. This can also be done to give the appearance of eyeliner! Numbing cream that is safe for the eye area is used.

AREOLA HEART TATTOO’S:
This procedure is done using a tattoo machine and tattoo pigments. This procedure is very versatile as we can match your areola color the best we can OR we can change the color of your areola. You can go darker or even bold with a splash of color! We will use a stencil to make the appropriate sized hearts around your areola. Most people tolerate this tattoo without numbing cream, but numbing cream can always be used to make clients more comfortable! This procedure can be done on mastectomy patients who would like to have hearts instead of areola’s!
