Scar Lightening
Scar lightening
What is it?
Scar lightening is done via “dry” tattooing. Dry tattooing is when you use a tattoo machine/needles, with no pigment inside it, it is running “dry”. Lightly we will go over the selected areas with our machine. When this is done the needles create micro traumas on the old scar tissue/ surface of the skin which triggers your skins collagen production and healing process. We can treat surgical scars, burns, acne scars, stretch marks, wrinkles and skin rejuvenation on face and body. It will take multiple sessions to see results, but results can be seen in as little as one sessions depending on what is being treated. The only scar type this treatment is not suited for is Keloid scarring.
common FAQ’s
Can this method be used to help reduce wrinkles?
Yes! This can be used to reduce wrinkles. The same way it lightens scars, is the same way it will reduce wrinkles, by triggering collagen production!
Does it hurt?
Everyone is different, but usually clients experience little pain unless a certain area is sensitive. Some scars can be sensitive. If this is the case, we could use numbing cream.
What is the aftercare and healing process like?
Easy! Washing with a gentle cleanser or antibacterial soap 1-2x a day and then apply(pressing) rose hip or bio oil to the area! Wait 6-8 weeks for your next session. There will be some redness in the treated area and potentially swelling, but usually only lasts 24 hours. Avoid direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time and tanning until the area is healed. Avoid swimming, hot tubs, saunas, or heavy sweating for 7 days post treatment. Avoid chemical peels/treatments. You will not be sore like when you get a tattoo, this treatment is very superficial and just “scratching the surface”. You will start to see results around week 4. Healing is complete 6-8 weeks after procedure.
