Pre booking & Aftercare

What is it?

A tooth gem is a circular crystal, gold, silver plated, or special shaped crystal with a flat back that is placed on the tooth using safe and strong adhesive. Coming in with recently brushed teeth is recommended, otherwise your tooth is prepped, cleaned, and dried, in less than a 10 minute process. A mouth piece is placed in your mouth to allow for easy access to all teeth. Then, etch paste is applied to the tooth(or teeth) of your choice, for one minute. Following that, it is wiped off and then bond solution is placed on as well. Next you’re given UV protective glasses and the UV light will be applied for 20 seconds to cure the tooth. Once that time is up, your tooth is wiped and its time to prepare the gem of your choice! Composite is applied to the gem you choose and placed on the exact area of the tooth you prefer. Once you’ve taken a look and confirm that you like the placement, the tooth gem is then cured on for 40 seconds using the UV light. Your tooth is then wiped again and ready to go!

WHO IS NOT A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR TOOTH GEMS?

Tooth Gems are generally safe for everyone, but the people who can not receive tooth gems are:

  • People with fake teeth

  • People with braces

  • If you’ve ever been told you have weak enamel, consult with your dentist before deciding to get a tooth gem.

Will it ruin my teeth? what about removal?

  • No the tooth gem will not ruin your teeth if properly applied and if your teeth are routinely cleaned and cared for. (yes, you can continue regular dental cleanings)

  • Removal: if you can not get it off with a piece of regular floss ( sometimes does the trick) you will have to go to a dentist to allow a professional to help with the removal.

How Long do they Last?

Generally they last 6 months-1 year. Every persons retention is different due to lifestyles, gem sizes, foods/drinks consumed, etc. Bigger tooth gems usually last longer.
